If you want to gain work experience and practice your Spanish, our Internship program in Spain is for you. This is how it works:
Entry requirements for internship in Spain
- Application deadline: minimum 12 weeks before the beginning of your desired start date for the internship or work practice.
- Minimum age: 18
- Minimum Intensive Spanish course length of 12 weeks for beginners and 8 weeks for students who already have an intermediate level. Courses can only be taken at Babylon Idiomas in Barcelona, Sevilla or Valencia.
Characteristics of internship placement
- Full time working week (40 hours per week)
- Duration: 4 weeks to full year
- Placements made according to availability
- Location in Spain selected according to availability
- Internship contract with the company
- Well known companies
Internship Type I: Company placement in Spain
- Payment: Internships are in principle unpaid but sometimes an employer provides a small housing or cost of living allowance.
- Typical sectors:
advertising companies, airlines, banks, boat sector, car industry, catering sector, chambers of commerce, computer industry, consultancy, convention centres, cosmetics industry, drinks multinationals, embassies, events sector, fashion industry, fast food sector, financial world, food multinationals, football clubs, furniture companies, health sector, insurance companies, language schools, market research companies, music industry, parcel service companies, pharmaceutical multinationals, promotion companies, real estate, relocation companies, sport companies, super market chains, telecom industry, theatre companies, tourism industry, transport sector, travel agencies, wine companies
- Typical departments: import – export, marketing, public relations, banking – finance, logistics, communication, IT, technology, customer service, design, tourism in general such as reception, food and beverage department etc.
- Internship Placement fee : Euro 595,00 [note: this does not include the investment in your Spanish course or accommodation]
Internship Type II: Work experience in hotels, bars restaurants
- Payment: Participants in this type of internships in Spain are paid and/or provided with free lodging and food.
- Typical sectors: Hotels (3, 4 and 5 star), restaurants, bars
- Typical departments: serving staff, reception, customer service etc.
- Application restrictions: a) Only citizens from the European Union can apply for this type of internship. b) Only applicants with relevant work experience in these sectors can apply.
- Internship Placement fee : Euro 495,00 [note: this does not include the investment in your Spanish course or accommodation]
Application procedure
- Enroll for an 8 or 12 week course with Babylon Idiomas in either Barcelona, Sevilla or Valencia.
- Send your curriculum vitae to internship@babylon-idiomas.com and provide us with the following information:
- Your desired sector (please indicate a range of options you are interested in) and length of internship (minimum 4 weeks) desired.
- Your preferred start date for the internship (note: this has to be at least 8 or 12 weeks after the start of your Spanish course)
- Once we have received payment for your course and internship placement fee, one of our counselors will contact you to discuss the available options
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Can I choose the location in Spain?
A: No, you cannot choose your location in Spain.
Q2: Can I choose the sector and type of work?
A: Yes, to the extent that you can indicate your preference. If we cannot find exactly what you want, our counselors will make alternative suggestions that meet your requirements as closely as possible.
Q3: What happens if I do not like the suggested internship?
A: You are entitled to two internship suggestions. You can turn down the first internship offer you receive. You either have to accept the second or pay an additional Euro 250 fee for a further search.
Q4: I am not a citizen of an European Union country; can I still do an internship?
A: Yes, you can do a Type I unpaid internship.
Q5: Can you help me with accommodation?
A: Yes, you can book accommodation during your course directly with Babylon Idiomas. If your internship takes place outside of our Babylon Idiomas destination, our counselors will help you finding appropriate accommodation.
