With so many destinations to choose from...where to
go? This month, we have asked three team members
in Barcelona, Sevilla and Valencia what they like about their
favourite city.

What I like about Sevilla |

A place to feel at home
What I like about Sevilla is that it is a small city
where you can feel at home almost instantly. You
may only know 5 people in the whole city but you are
bound to run into them once in a while, so you feel
like a local within no time.
I also love that there is no need to use public
transport in Sevilla because you can walk within 20
minutes to almost everywhere. There are some of
the most spectacularly beautiful monuments here in
Sevilla but not so many that there isn't time to stop
and do as the locals do and have a few "tapas" or
drink a coffee to watch the world go by.
From late February onwards the sky is almost always
a striking cornflower blue colour and although it might
be cold in the shade, the sun is very warm and
welcome when it gets through the narrow streets to
warm and blaze over a park or plaza. The days are
also getting longer which puts everyone in a good
mood and keen to meet up after work for a drink and
tapita.
There are lots of things that I love about
Sevilla but these are the first things that come to my
mind at the moment :)

What I like about Barcelona |

You never get bored here
There are so many things I like about Barcelona it
would take me all day to list them all. Summer days
on the beach with a clara in hand, lounging in front
of one of the chiringuitos playing the latest summer
tunes. Winter weekends up in the snow of the
nearby Pyrenees. Sitting outside on one of the
hundreds of terraces around the city watching the
world go by and listening to the people chattering in
every different language; The city is so
cosmopolitan, it's been easy to make friends from all
over the world.
On a sunny day it's great to spend time at the
beach, then later when the sun has set head up the
Tibidabo followed by a night of dancing in Danzatoria,
one of my favourite locations, an old villa
transformed into a stunning restaurant and nightclub
where you can and take in the amazing views of
Barcelona by night from the terraces.
For me, Barcelona has everything you could ever
want from a city. Great climate, beaches, mountains,
culture, fantastic nightlife, anyone of any age, at
any time of year can have an amazing experience
here, it's impossible to ever get bored!

What I like about Valencia |

Something new to discover every day
First of all I have to admit that Valencia makes me
happy. It is the wide range of everything which
makes me feel really good here. The people are open
minded and relaxed, well, most of them. The light is
magnificent and opens your spirits every morning.
The relation between medieval and modern culture
makes this city very attractive. Every time I am
walking through the streets and parks I discover a
new beautiful building, plaza or view, which I have
never seen before.
Valencia is a city which you can easily discover by
walking. I am hardly using my car, which is a relief.
On the weekends I go to the beach, I love the
sea. In summer to enjoy the sun and to swim, in
winter for walking. Especially to El Saler, a long and
wild beach with dunes and some places where you
can eat paella Valenciana or simply have a beer or a
sangría blanca.
The cultural offer of Valencia is fantastic. I love to
go to the museum or gallery shows, either
contemporary or classical exhibitions. And I love to
visit the churches and monasteries which always
have this air of history. Valencia is the third biggest
city of Spain, but I am always feeling like living in a
smaller community because you have everything
around the corner and the people connect very
easily to each other.
In fact: After travelling the entire world, I found the
place to stay and to be happy!

Course spotlight: DELE Preparation Course |
|
| |
|
The Official Spanish Examination
DELE stands for Diploma de Español como Lengua
Extranjera. This is the official examination
administered by Instituto Cervantes. There are three
different levels (Inicial, intermedio and Superior) and
the exam takes place three times per year (May,
August and November).
The DELE exam is recognised in all countries and if
you want to add Spanish to your resume for work
purposes, then we highly recommend obtaining the
qualification.
Babylon Idiomas offers preparation courses for the
Intermedio and Superior exams.
These courses start 4 weeks before the exam dates
and are a great help in passing the exam.
