A DELE Exam for every level?
DELEWith the introduction of the A2 and C1 exam this year, the Instituto Cervantes offers official DELE exams for every level. In case you don’t know what Instituto Cervantes is, it is the official government organization (named after the famous writer Miguel de Cervantes who wrote the don Quijote books) that regulates and promotes the Spanish language.

The Instituto Cervantes introduced many years ago the Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) which has become the standard recognition of your Spanish language skills. This year, they will introduce two two new exams for the A2 and C1 level which means you can take an exam for every level (A1 > A2 > B1 > B2 > C1 > C2) as formulated in the Common  European Framework of References for Languages.

The exams take place in Spain in 2010 on Friday 21st of  May, Friday 20th of  August and Friday 19th of November (please note that you can take the exam in any country where Instituto Cervantes has offices but the dates may vary slightly). The cost of the exam is between EUR 75 and EUR 135 depending on which level exam you are taking.

At Babylon Idiomas, we pay these fees on your behalf and one of our teachers will take you to the exam centre so that you don’t have to worry about the administrative issues and focus on the exam instead.

The exams test your comprehension, writing and oral skillsand we strongly recommend that you take  a DELE preparation course to maximize the chances of passing it. Babylon Idiomas offers preparation course for the two most popular DELE levels: the Intermedio (B2 level) and Superior (C2 level). We are considering adding the A2 exam level preparation course later this year.

The DELE preparation course takes  3 weeks and consists of 20 class hours per week. The start dates for the preparation course always fall four weeks before the actual exam. This way, you finish the course one week before the real exam which gives you plety of revision time. The course can be taken in Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia and Buenos Aires. Please note that you should already have completed the level before starting the preparation course.

If you want to receive an indication of your level and how long it takes to complete, visit our Spanish level information page where you will also find a link to our Spanish level test.
